The decorative projects of the Early English Gothic marked original national features and a sequence of style more complete than the ones in the rest of the countries. It was not limited to the architecture. In fact, luxury carvings would be applied to a range of objects so varied that they would replace the romantic and Norman style so as to reach naturalism in the following centuries. Nature was the key source of inspiration. Although it was in Christian faith where it can be perceived as a manifestation of the divine creation, in many occasions its realistic representation only accomplished a purpose which was merely to decorate. With, or without a message conscientiously chosen to represent in the liturgical object, due to its sacred function, they were furnished without standing beauty.
Following that parameter, we design a baptismal font with vertical panels decorated with dense foliage at the top and a gracious shaft with graticule of geometric patterns. Apart from that, the octagonal symbols of the piece can also be highlighted. Being the heirs of the Paleo-Christian baptismal pools and the baptistery, the number eight refers to the regeneration, Renaissance, salvation and resurrection. Everything previously mentioned is related to the sacrament for which these pieces were created: the baptism.
